THE ULTRA-RARE HISTORY OF YELLOW SEA GLASS

Yellow is one of the most elusive sea glass colours in existence, with chances of finding a piece estimated at just 1 in every 3,000 shards collected.

Unlike greens or ambers, yellow glass was rarely used for mass-produced bottles. Most yellow pieces originate from 19th and early 20th-century decorative tableware, art glass, or rare pharmaceutical vessels. Some historic yellow variants—known as Vaseline or Uranium glass—were crafted using tiny amounts of uranium dioxide, causing them to glow vibrant neon lime green under UV light. Dating back over 100 years, this sunny piece holds a truly remarkable slice of glassmaking history.
