Hallmarking Notice
Assured Quality & Precious Metal Authenticity
When you invest in fine jewelley, you deserve absolute certainty regarding the quality and purity of the precious metals used. At Victoria Grace Studio, every piece is handcrafted using genuine, solid 925 sterling silver, 14ct gold, and 18ct gold, alongside hand-selected precious gemstones.
In accordance with UK law, my work is independently tested and hallmarked to guarantee its metal content, giving you total peace of mind in the authenticity of your purchase.
─── What is a Hallmark? ───
A hallmark is a legally regulated series of component marks struck into precious metals (silver, gold, palladium, and platinum). This testing and stamping is carried out entirely independently by one of the four official UK Assay Offices.
The Hallmarking Act 1973 mandates that all precious metal articles sold in the UK must be hallmarked to verify their purity, protecting consumers against counterfeit materials.
Weight Exemptions & Piercing Jewellery
Under UK law, articles that fall below a specific weight threshold are legally exempt from mandatory hallmarking:
Sterling Silver: Exempt if under 7.78 grams
Gold: Exempt if under 1.00 gram
Because fine piercing jewellery (such as helix hoops, conch studs, and lobe earrings) is intentionally designed to be incredibly small, delicate, and lightweight, these pieces almost always fall well under the legal weight threshold. Stamping them would risk distorting or damaging their delicate structure.
All qualifying Victoria Grace Studio jewellery above these weights is proudly stamped with my unique sponsor's mark and officially hallmarked by the London Assay Office. Where appropriate and physically possible, I may occasionally choose to hallmark lighter pieces as well.
